Orchestral Evensong

Exeter Symphony Orchestra are delighted to have been asked to contribute to the Choral Evensong in Exeter Cathedral on Saturday 8 October at 1600. The service, an ‘Orchestral Evensong’, will blend the combined forces of the Exeter Cathedral Choir and the University of Exeter Chapel Choir with our full orchestra and, of course, the organ. The music will include Parry’s rousing anthem I was Glad, Brahms’ sublime setting of Psalm 84 How lovely is thy dwelling place (from Ein Deutsches Requiem), and the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis from the Evening Service in A Major by Stanford. The finale of Alexandre Guilmant’s 1st Symphony for Organ & Orchestra will conclude this act of worship which everyone is welcome to attend.
